The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program provides free tax preparation services for individuals and families earning $69,000 or less during the 2025 tax year.

K-State Extension Johnson County will open its VITA site on Feb. 4 at the Sunset Drive Office Building, 11811 S. Sunset Drive, Olathe.

The location offers taxpayers two service options:

  • a drop-off service where tax documents can be submitted for later completion
  • an in-person walk-in service for those who prefer face-to-face assistance.

Both options are staffed by IRS-certified volunteers trained to ensure accurate and reliable preparation at no cost.
