RideKC Freedom Services in Johnson County
Accessibility Transportation
RideKC Freedom is Johnson County’s shared, curb-to-curb paratransit service for residents with disabilities or mobility challenges.
All Johnson County Transit services — including fixed-route buses and microtransit — are ADA-accessible. RideKC Freedom is designed for individuals who are unable to independently use those services.

Eligibility
You may be eligible for RideKC Freedom if:
- You are unable to independently use fixed-route or microtransit due to a disability or health condition
- You are age 65 or older and have a mobility limitation
All applicants must complete the eligibility process.
Johnson County Transit uses an eligibility process aligned with ADA standards used by transit systems nationwide.
This process may include:
- An application
- A brief phone or online interview
- Additional information, if needed
You’ll receive a written decision by mail or email.
How to Apply (3 Ways)
Apply Online (Recommended)
- Complete the application online
- Upload a recent color photo of your face (not associated with a state ID, driver's license, or passport)
- Provide proof of date of birth if applying based on age
- Upload a Healthcare Provider Form if needed
- Submit electronically
You can download the healthcare provider form to email or print, or share the website link so your provider can complete it online.

Once we receive your application, we’ll contact you to schedule a brief phone interview. You’ll receive a written eligibility decision by mail or email.

- Service Area: Most of Johnson County and some nearby areas
- Service Days: Monday–Friday
- Service Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Closed on: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
