Older Americans Month: Flip the Script on Aging
Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month, a time to recognize the contributions of older Americans, highlight aging trends and reaffirm our commitment to serving older adults.
The 2025 theme, “Flip the Script on Aging,” focuses on transforming how society perceives, discusses and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and dispel misconceptions. Join us this year in celebrating the contributions of older adults, exploring ways to stay active and engaged and embracing the purpose, growth and connections that come with aging.
Celebrate Older Americans Month with the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging! Get involved by volunteering, connecting with family, staying active or exploring a new hobby.
Join us for an event in May. Register at connect.jocogov.org, select Aging Activities/AAA Events or email Jill.Zink@jocogov.org. Events include:

Older Americans Month serves as a reminder that aging is a journey to be celebrated. It is a time to express gratitude for the generations before us and recognize the unique strengths they bring to our communities.
This May, we hope you find a way to honor the older adults in your community and celebrate Older Americans Month with us at an upcoming event.
