Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus travel program goes on the road this fall with opportunities to explore arts, culture and wildlife.

Departing from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Rd., Merriam, upcoming day trips include:

  • “Great American Market in Emporia” - Saturday, Sept. 13, with opportunity to explore and shop in downtown Emporia featuring more than 150 vendors. Motorcoach transportation included. Food costs on your own. Substantial walking is to be expected. $88/$97 nonresidents.
  • “Threads and Treasures” - Tuesday, Oct. 7, with a day in “Quilt Town USA” at Hamilton, Mo., featuring more than 17 fabric shops and an afternoon visit to the Missouri Quilt Museum. Motorcoach transportation, a Missouri Star Quilt Company goodie bag, lunch and museum admission included. Moderate walking is to be expected. $112/$123 nonresidents.
  • “Louisburg Tour – Cider & Cats” - Wednesday, Oct. 15, with a tour of the Louisburg Cider Mill to watch where cider is pressed and donuts are made, a visit Cedar Cove Sanctuary for an up close guided tour of exotic and rescued cats, and shop Louisburg Market Street for antiques and unique treasures. Motorcoach transportation, tours and lunch included. Moderate walking is to be expected. $119/$131 nonresidents.
