Computer classes provide tech guidance

Build confidence and stay connected through a variety of technology classes designed for beginners and everyday users with Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Program.
Whether you want to learn computer basics, organize digital photos or protect yourself online, these hands-on programs offer practical skills in using technology.
At New Century Fieldhouse, get started with Intro to Google Apps at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30 or learn how to organize and manage memories in Managing Your Photos with iPhone and iPad at 1 p.m. Monday, April 20. Cost for each two-hour class is $22/$24 nonresidents.
Another opportunity to build computer confidence is through programs at the Roeland Park Community Center, starting with PC Computer Skills at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 24. This two-hour class can benefit those who are new to Windows or want a refresher.
Participants will learn how to navigate the desktop and taskbar, manage files and folders, personalize web browsers, use email and practice basic internet safety. Bring your own laptop for guided hands-on instruction. Cost is $22/$24 nonresidents.
Stay safer online with Privacy Settings and Avoiding Scams at 10 a.m. April 7 also at Roeland Park. This class covers common online and phone scams, phishing awareness, password protection, WiFi security and phone privacy settings.
Participants will learn how to recognize red flags and better protect their personal information. Cost is $22/$24 nonresidents.
For more personalized help, small group computer or cell phone tutoring offers focused instruction with a maximum of five participants.
Sessions take place at 10 a.m. March 10, March 18, April 14 and April 22 at Roeland Park. Cost for these two-hour sessions is $26/$28 nonresidents.
