Law enforcement vehicles for 2026 FIFA World Cup services
Authorized the reallocation and expenditure of County General Fund reserves of $337,000 to the Sheriff’s Office for the purchase of law enforcement vehicles and equipment necessary to provide law enforcement services for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Vote: Passed 6-1.

Amending county’s purchasing policy
Adopted Resolution No. 115-25, amending Purchasing Policy Nos. 110.125 and 110.165 effective Jan. 1, 2026. Vote: Passed 5-2.

Summer Snack Packs program received NACO Achievement Award
Summer Snack Packs Johnson County was recently the recipient of four NACO Achievement Awards. Over the last few weeks, we have been highlighting programs that were recognized with this national recognition. Launched in summer 2024 by the Johnson County Aging and Human Services Department, the Summer Snack Packs program addressed childhood food insecurity during school breaks. It provided 403 kid-friendly lunch and snack bags to low-income families, ensuring access to nutritious meals.

Leawood plans hearing on proposed redevelopment district
The City of Leawood will conduct a public hearing on Monday, Oct. 6, to consider the establishment of a redevelopment district. The proposed district is located northwest of State Line Road and College Boulevard. The project consists of office buildings, a hotel and event center facility, residential buildings, retail buildings and ancillary facilities. The total development investment is expected to be approximately $750 million.
