Each class is designed to meet you where you are, building strength, supporting your goals and promoting lasting wellness.

This fall, dust, pollen and airborne seeds will blow in the strong Midwestern winds and invade your homes. Not to mention all the human-transmitted diseases that can be present in the air.

The Roeland Park New Horizons Band is celebrating its 20th year of making music, building friendships and creating community for older adults in Johnson County.

An unforgettable day of horsepower and hotrods will go on display at the free Cars in the Park event from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Theatre in the Park facility, 7710 Renner Road, Shawnee.

Monarch butterfly season is here. In celebration of the annual journey south, Johnson County Extension Master Naturalists and Monarch Watch are hosting “Hasta Luego Monarchs” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Pollinator Prairie, 320 South Blake St., Olathe.

Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus travel program goes on the road this fall with opportunities to explore arts, culture and wildlife.

Based on population shifts and continued growth in Johnson County, the Board of County Commissioners in July voted on new district borders that took effect immediately. The borders define the six voting districts, and from each district one county commissioner is elected. With the Chairman, who is elected by all voters in the county, the six commissioners comprise the Board.

In real life falls aren’t funny. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, falls are serious and costly for older adults. Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults 65 years and older. More than 14 million, or 1 in 4, older adults report falling every year.

With Medicare open enrollment kicking off on Oct. 15, preparation is key to making confident, informed healthcare decisions.
