Hit the road with Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Program and uncover fascinating stories, iconic landmarks and hidden gems in these exciting May and June travel experiences!
- “Hometown Disney” – Discover the magic of Walt Disney’s childhood in Marceline, Missouri, with visit to the Disney Museum and a guided town tour.
- “Presidents, Pioneers & Progress” – Explore the legacy of President Eisenhower in Abilene, with visits to his museum, boyhood home and final resting place. Activities include dining at Brookville Hotel and touring the Dickinson County Heritage Center.
- “Westward Bound – Exploring Missouri’s Frontier” - Explore Missouri’s frontier past at Fort Osage and the National Frontier Trails Museum followed by a covered wagon ride through historic Independence.
- “Sedalia’s Story” – Experience Sedalia, Missouri’s rich history by touring the historic Katy Depot then enjoy lunch and shopping in the heart of downtown.
- “A Day in Olathe” – Step back in time at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop, where frontier life comes alive through interactive exhibits, demonstrations, optional stagecoach rides and ice cream flavors at Sylas and Maddy’s!
