Spring is in the air, and adults of all ages have plenty to enjoy. The Johnson County Park and Recreation District 50 Plus Program is bringing a season full of laughter, games, music and social events. From puzzles and friendly competitions to mixers and playful traditions, we offer a wide variety of activities.
The spring schedule kicks off at 6 p.m. March 26 with two events. Puzzle enthusiasts can put their skills to the test at Puzzle Palooza at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, Prairie Village. Teams will race against the clock to complete a 500-piece puzzle, with prizes awarded to the top three fastest teams. Participants may register individually or as a team of four. Light refreshments will be provided. Costs are $12/$13 nonresidents. Preregistration is required.
Also on March 26, music lovers are invited to Matt Ross Community Center, Overland Park, for the return of the Shawnee Mission North Strolling Strings. Back by popular demand, this event features a catered lunch and a unique strolling musical performance that fills the room with vibrant melodies. Strolling Strings begins at 11 a.m. Costs are $32/$35 nonresidents.
On March 31, those looking to expand their social circle can attend the Fast Friends Mixer at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse.
This event features guided, casual conversations designed to spark conversation and shared stories.
Light refreshments will be provided. The event begins at 1 p.m. Costs are $15/$16 nonresidents. Preregistration is required.
April brings playful twists on classic favorites, starting at 10:30 a.m. April 1 with the 50 Plus Egg Hunt at the Roeland Park Community Center. Who says kids and grandkids get to have all the fun? Participants will search high and low outdoors for hidden eggs, then head inside for coffee and refreshments. Costs are $11 for residents and $12 for nonresidents.
The spring lineup wraps up at 1:30 p.m. April 15 with Music Bingo in the LongHouse Visitor Center at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. This event combines classic bingo with a musical twist, featuring favorite hits from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. Enjoy a mix of regular and music bingo rounds, light refreshments and special prizes while reliving the golden decades of music. Costs are $11/$12 nonresidents.
No matter your interests, these spring events offer opportunities to try a new hobby, enjoy music, challenge your mind or simply share laughs with friends.
