Flooding

The Stormwater Management Program addresses flooding issues throughout the county by funding flood damage reduction project that remove habitual buildings from the floodplain and minimize the potential for flooding of streets and vital infrastructure.

Stormwater Management Program

Johnson County’s Stormwater Management Program supports stormwater management to protect our most valuable resource: water. The program strives to improve water quality in lakes and streams, while also addressing public safety issues by reducing the risk from flooding.

Contain the Rain

Contain the Rain is a reimbursement program for most Johnson County residents who install sustainable landscape solutions that benefit stormwater.

No-Truck Routes

Trucks are a vital part of the economy as they are needed to deliver goods and services. Federal and State statutes allow legally sized trucks full access to the road network like any other vehicle.

Noxious Weed

The Noxious Weed division in Public Works is responsible for administering and enforcing the Kansas Noxious Weed law.  Landowners can purchase herbicides and/or rent sprayers from Noxious Weed, to help control the spread of and to eradicate noxious weeds.
