50 Plus offers one-day trips

Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Department is kicking off the New Year with one-day wanders, including:

• “’That’s How It Is’… and Was.” Wednesday, Feb. 19. Spend the day in St. Joseph, Mo., immersed in the history of the mail system at the Pony Express Museum and the Patee House along with tours of the Jesse James house and the Walter Cronkite Memorial. Cost is $129/$142 nonresidents. Lunch included. Motorcoach transport.

Museum to close exhibits, open new one

Johnson County Museum’s popular “Free to Be...A 1960s Fashion Revolution” special exhibit will be coming to an end on Jan. 11. Also, on display at the museum through Jan. 4 is a separate special exhibit called “Home for the Holidays at the All-Electric House.”

Calling all former majorettes, baton twirlers and anyone interested in learning baton twirling!

Puzzle Palooza planned Feb. 28

Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Program is hosting the popular Puzzle Palooza at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, Overland Park.

50 Plus programs to boost wellness

At any stage of life, maintaining good health and wellness is essential, and for those aged 50 and beyond, it becomes even more important to focus on staying active and engaged.

Event scheduled for grandparents

A Breakfast with Grandparents program is scheduled from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 27 at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village.
