Festive event set for Hispanic Heritage Month
A festive evening is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct.4 at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. From Spanish explorers, to Mexican traders and laborers, to recent Central and South American immigrants, the Kansas City region has deep Latino history. Today, the Latino community is Johnson County’s fastest growing population.
Train-related programs on track at museum
With topics ranging from Mexican and Mexican-American track workers to Harvey Houses and Harvey Girls, the Johnson County Museum is planning four programs this fall relating to its ongoing special exhibit about the local impact of railroads.
50 Plus plans fall trips, outings

Cars show set Oct. 21
Shine up your vintage or contemporary car, truck, hot rod or motorcycle because it is time to show them off at Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s Cars in the Park Show at Theatre in the Park, 7710 Renner Road, in Shawnee Mission Park.

Fun Fest set Oct 14 at TIP
As a way to say thank you to our community for its amazing support of our programs, the Johnson County Park and Recreation District is hosting an inaugural Fun Fest on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Project begins at Heritage Park Lake
The Johnson County Park and Recreation District began drawing down water levels in Heritage Park Lake in early June in preparation for much-needed water quality and habitat improvements.

Movies in the Park at TIP
Cost is $1 per person at the box office, gates & box office open at 8 p.m., movies start at 8:30-8:45 p.m. (dependent on sunset).
