Johnson County Park and Recreation District 50 Plus Program is offering two incredible group travel experiences to kick off 2026!

Every May, communities across the nation come together to celebrate Older Americans Month, a time to honor the contributions, resilience and achievements of older adults. This annual observance highlights the importance of supporting older adults in leading independent, fulfilling lives through engagement, connection and wellness.

Johnson County residents are invited to get ready for a sweet and entertaining adventure with Family Fun Ice Cream Bingo!

Do you love puppies, yoga, or spending time outdoors? Maybe all three?

Three additional introductory classes in walking soccer by Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Department are planned this summer as a new fun, low-impact sport for aging adults.

Research shows that living a sedentary lifestyle may significantly increase your risk for chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, and reduce life expectancy.

Sponsored by 50 Plus, a public Garden Party will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. April 30 at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village

A 50 Plus Mah Jongg Tiles and Tulips event is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 22 at the New Century Fieldhouse, 551 New Century Parkway, near Gardner.

Spring is a season of renewal, and the Johnson County Park and Recreation 50 Plus Department is celebrating with a variety of special events designed for fun, engagement and activity. From outdoor adventures to social gatherings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Each week, like clockwork, small groups of older adults roll out floor mats and position chairs for yoga classes in a large, open room at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse in Prairie Village.
