JCDHE offers free presentations, tours of our two Olathe locations, and phone interviews with staff (as required by university degree programs).

Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping concerns can be directed to the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment- Environmental Division. Health and Environment staff will not clean-up the incident but can provide direction on how to clean it up, possible enforcement action, and provide guidance on proper solid waste management.

Swimming Facility Complaint

Report issues, concerns and complaints to the Johnson County Environmental Division concerning air quality, illegal dumping, public swimming pools and spas, septic systems, solid waste, water quality and other matters.

Sustainability Consulting

Johnson County Department of Health and Environment staff provide free waste diversion assistance and sustainability consulting to businesses, schools, restaurants and other commercial entities. Qualifying organizations may be eligible to receive up to $500 in supplies to assist in waste reduction efforts. 

Septic System Contractor Installer License

Johnson County Department of Health and Environment licenses installers and designers of private sewage treatment systems regulated under the Johnson County Environmental Sanitary Code, as well as the sanitary disposal contractors, also known as pumpers, who clean the treatment systems and transport the sewage to the disposal site.

Septic System Resale Inspection

Apply for a resale inspection performed by a Johnson County Department of Health and Environment environmental health specialist to determine the functional status of a private sewage treatment system. 

Commercial/Industrial Sewage Treatment Permit

The Commercial/Industrial On-Site Program issues permits to install and operate non-residential septic systems where property owners are not served by a public wastewater collection system.

Re-blended Paint

Purchase high quality latex paint in five gallon buckets. Paint from Johnson County homes is collected at our Household Hazardous Waste facility and re-blended on site.
